Airport Sound Library Korea | Incheon | Jeju | Gimpo

We visited the three busiest airports in Korea during our three-month stay! Sound recordings from Incheon Airport, Jeju Airport, and Gimpo Airport can be found in this new airport sound library!

INCHEON AIRPORT

Incheon Airport is not only the largest and busiest airport in Korea, but also one of the busiest airports in the world. The adventure begins as soon as you exit the subway and enter the airport. As we approached the long travelator, which appears in many K-dramas, we tried to record as many great ambiences as we could before boarding our flight.

BINAURAL SOUND EFFECTS

We used the new DPA 4560 in ear binaural microphones for the Incheon airport, which makes the recording experience very different from our other stereo recordings in this sound library!

We love using binaural microphones to create an immersive sound experience. Being in an airport means that sounds are coming from all directions, and using two 360-degree microphones allows us to catch everything around us.

We recorded everything from the subway station, travelators, check-in at the departure hall, ambience at the gate, lounge ambience, and the jet bridge before boarding was recorded.

JEJU ISLAND AIRPORT

We recorded ambience outside the departure hall, cars passing by, stopping, doors open & closing, passengers leaving, chatting, and rushing to the airport's entrance. It became very busy during the day but not overly hectic.

Inside the airport we recorded the ambience of people walking around looking for check-in counters, chatters, footsteps, the typical suitcase rolling sound effects, and spoken announcements over the loudspeaker.

We went to one of the lounges after checking our bags, and thankfully, no music was playing. People sitting in their chairs, chatting with each other. The lounge had a bar which served coffee, tea snacks, drinks and food. You can hear the coffee machine in the distance in one of our recordings.

Jeju airport is the second largest airport in Korea and almost 30 million visitors used this airport back in 2017. The plan to build a new airport in the south is currently on hold.

GIMPO AIRPORT

After coming from Jeju Island, we arrived at Gimpo airport and recorded ambience inside the baggage claim area. We waited with several other passengers for our luggage and later left and recorded our way to the subway station.

Gimpo Airport served as the main international airport for Seoul and South Korea until 2001, when Incheon International Airport opened.
